Man Must Leave Earth To Survive
Professor Stephen W. Hawking’s recent comments have created quite a crackle for news reporters around the world, it seems. Some think his advice is, well, really, really preposterous. Others are saying it must be time for us to wake up and listen to him.
This might surprise you, but I really agree with him on this. In fact, I believe Stephen Hawking had no idea how very right he was. Us mortal humans will die, and be extinct, except that we prepare to live outside of this earth.
Interestingly enough, this is no new idea.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:19-20)
Hawking cited the risk of humanity being wiped out by a global catastrophe, such as sudden global warming.
Again, I don’t think he knew how right he was. For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. (Malachi 4:1)
Mankind, prepare to meet thy God! For the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. (2 Peter 3:10-14)
No question about it, we need to be thinking about things outside of earth. Mankind, prepare to meet thy God!
