Gospel of Betrayal
As if the betrayal of Christ at the time of crucifixion was not enough, Judas Iscariot has returned to further that cause.
On April 9th, the National Geographic will be airing their documentation of 'the Gospel of Judas'.
I'm not going to be slow about what I think of this type of thing:
Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
'The Gospel of Judas' purportedly comes from an ancient codex found in the Egyptian desert in the 1970's.
If anything sounds blasphemous or heretical, the very title itself gives it away.
Of course everyone knows it wasn't written by Judas, because he committed suicide. According to researchers, it was written by an 'early Christian' group known as Gnostic who believed that Judas Iscariot was the most enlightened of all the disciples.
In this 'Gospel', Judas Iscariot is declared to be the only disciple who truly knew and understood Jesus, that he was the closest and most beloved of them all, and that he was the one Jesus entrusted with secrets known to no other.
Some of those being that Judas would receive great rewards for his role of betrayal, that he was the one who relieved Jesus of entrapment in a human body, and that the earth was not created by God, but was devised by the devil as a place to trap divine spirits.
I'd like to take just a very brief look at what the Bible says about Judas:
...Joh 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
Joh 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
Joh 6:71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
Joh 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him...
Coming at a time of which we have been warned, that false prophets and false spirits will go out into the world, to deceive, if it were possible, the very elect, observe the news coverage of this coming up, and observe how the devil goeth about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
But we have a more sure foundation...

Excellent analysis...
Honestly, I was happy to read in my liberal local paper that researchers will not consider this as evidence for the case of the "historical" Jesus. At least they aren't as stupid as we would think. :)
Well, good for them.
Here, the Toronto Star published it front page with their headline under a banner that declared "Gospel Truth". Whether it was intended as sarcasm or not, I don't know, but the more I see around here, ther more it appears to be being cracked up to be an enormous 'bombshell of theology'.
